Why Your Website Is Not Converting and What to Fix This Week

A Good Looking Website Is Not Always a Converting Website

It is easy to think that if your website looks lovely, enquiries will follow. But plenty of websites look great and still stay quiet. This is usually because your visitors cannot figure out what to do next or they do not trust the page enough to take action.

Most conversion issues are not big problems. They are small, fixable things that create friction. If you sort these, you can see enquiries improve quickly.

Your Homepage Needs Instant Clarity

Visitors decide within seconds if your business is relevant to them. If your homepage starts with poetic wording, long introductions or vague statements, people leave.

Your homepage should clearly state: • what you offer • who you help • what results they get • how to take the next step

Plain and clear always wins.

Make Your Call to Actions Obvious and Repeated

A website without clear CTAs leaves people stuck. They might like your work but not know how to book. Your CTA should appear several times throughout your homepage.

Good examples include: • Book now • Get in touch • Request a quote • Enquire today

Make sure your buttons are easy to spot and work properly on mobile.

Explain Your Services With Clarity and Confidence

Many small businesses keep their service descriptions too vague. People need to understand what they are buying.

Include: • what your service is • who it is for • why it works • what is included • pricing or a price guide

This builds trust.

Check Your Mobile Version First

Most website traffic comes from mobile devices. If your mobile version is messy, slow or confusing, conversions will drop.

Check for: • overlapping text • buttons that do not tap easily • images that push content too far down • text that is too small • slow loading

This is one of the biggest issues I fix for clients in Essex.

Add More Copy to Build Trust

You do not need long essays, but you do need enough information for people to feel confident.

Useful things to add include: • a simple outline of your process • reassurance about experience • who you work with • testimonials • clear benefits

More understanding equals more enquiries.

Improve Your Internal Linking

If someone reads your homepage and likes what they see, make it easy for them to explore more. Adding internal links between pages helps both SEO and user experience.

Make Your Contact Page Easy to Use

Your contact page should include: • a simple form • your email address • your location (especially for local Essex SEO) • optional FAQs

Remove anything that adds friction.
